Ellie: (to Morgan) He was a real ass. For our first anniversary, he gave me a signed photograph of himself. He was carrying a canoe in nothing but suit pants.
Review: The answer to the question I asked myself last week is no, Sarah doesn't have a baby. But she does have a mother we've never heard of before (played by Cheryl Ladd) and a (sort of) baby sister whom she saved from her old handler in the days that preceded her getting the Chuck mission. It's this baby that Shaw was talking about and that comes to haunt her now, so many years later. And this was one episode I'm not afraid to give the full five stars.
I was talking about emotions before and this was certainly a roller-coaster. From Sarah's trust issues (didn't she get past that?) to Devon and Ellie playing spies to spice up their sex life to Morgan trying to win Alex back, this was a fun ride. And Sarah really did look beautiful with a baby in her arms, despite me not really being able to picture her as a mother.
It was also great to have a glimpse of Sarah's past and how she got to go from being a rookie agent that needed to have a handler to being a handler herself. I'm still a bit confused as to why they had Chuck & co go out on their own and have their private security (or whatever it is) company if they're not going to actually have clients, but I'm hoping their decision not to return to the CIA will get them back into business. And, of course, I'm still confused about the end-game of this season, that doesn't seem to go anywhere but have Sarah and Chuck buy that damn house and make a bunch of babies themselves.
On the action side, seeing Sarah kick Ryker's ass was a fun ride, though I always hate it when a pretty house get teared down to pieces. Why do TV and movie producers insist on doing that? What the episode was lacking was the comedy - and no, I won't count Chuck's game chair comments in that category. Devon and Ellie's account about their breakup back in the day was kinda fun though.
But I didn't really feel the need for comedy in such an emotional-packed episode. Watching Sarah with her mother and with Molly was great, but the best part was seeing Morgan and Molly together. How could Alex not give him a huge kiss after that display of affection, I ask you?
Chuck is due five more episodes from this fantastic fun ride and I'm getting more and more nostalgic about it. I'm not a crazed fans as millions of people out there are, but I've been dragged into this chuckster madness by a good friend and I'm not sad about the end.Chuck 5x07: Chuck vs. the Santa Suit Back to Season 5
