A Christian youth was arrested over the charges of blasphemy in Lahore on Saturday.
26-year-old Sawan Masih was charged with blasphemy and booked under Section 295-C by Badami Bagh Police.
Hundreds of enraged people beleaguered the Christian locality after hearing about the incident and vandalized more than hundred homes and several vehicles.
Due to intense irritation, the police avoided to take action against the protesters and requested some Muslim clerics to intervene and bring the situation under control.
Several religious scholars have been rushed to the site after which situation has been controlled.
The prominent clerics of the country have strongly condemned the violence and called on the government to provide safety to the meniorties.
