How would you describe your wedding style?
Ultra glam, luxurious and very personal.
A little about the wedding ceremony
All I remember is seeing Craig’s beaming face and feeling so happy, it seemed like it was just us two in the church, it felt very relaxed and full of love from all of our family and friends.
Wedding reading: I Corinthians 13. 1 – 13.
It was all about the hymns for us. We had ‘This little light of mine’ and ‘Give me joy in my heart’ (it was a very upbeat and happy day).
What did you wear?
Charlotte: Enzoani — Diana (I only wore the belt for the night time), Dune shoes, Jenny Packham head piece, cathedral veil, vintage watch which was Craig’s Nanna’s, who sadly I never met. I literally tried on hundreds of dresses; one lady upset me as she said I would never have that ‘the one’ moment… Eventually I did and it was completely worth the wait!
Craig: hired suits from Tickled Pink Doncaster. Groom and best man had matching cravats from the peach silk; the ushers had ivory ones.
Wedding music and entertainment:
Bridgewater string quartet (as they played current songs, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga etc.), John Morton magician, and VIP band through Yorkshire Entertainment.
Wedding venue styling and details:
We had a marquee reception, and this proved very time consuming for the amount of guests we had (135 in the day, and an extra 50 at night) so we used Jacquie Andrassy Marquees and she helped so much with this. However we both had input in everything throughout, as we were both very adamant on certain styles that we wanted.
I chose my gorgeous bridesmaid dresses from Asos — they were a bargain and decided on the nudey peach color scheme. We wanted everything to look very opulent and luxurious, which is why we went for the crackle effect tea light holders and pumpkin vases, and I love flowers so we really went to town with those!
The lawn looked immaculate as my dad sells turf!! We wanted the reception to be very relaxed and outside for as long as possible… We had a china hat marquee on the lawn; this again looked so glamorous with many lanterns, bird cages etc.
The bar was made from our color silk, and Jacquie made new cushion covers and throws for the sofas!
I bought about 40 pairs of flip flops and put them in a picnic basket for the night time; I would recommend this to everyone!
The toilets looked amazing, as sometimes marquee toilets are awful, but Jacquie dressed these with hair straighteners, mini deodorants etc; it didn’t seem like a toilet area, more a VIP styling area for the ladies!
And we also got my lovely cousin Lucy to design us individual menus with each guest’s name place: we thought this looked more stylish and personal. We named the tables after all the special places we have travelled together over the years and had the younger tables as the stag and hen do destinations: Magaluf and Benidorm, haha! Our top table was our beautiful honeymoon location…Barbados.
Invitations and reception stationery:
My cousin designed the font and layout and I made the invitations myself as I am quite artistic and crafty. I loved doing them and missed sticking diamantes to things afterwards!
Memorable wedding day moments:
- Hearing the string quartet playing (Canon in D) and walking down the aisle with my lovely father to my handsome husband.
- Having pictures taken on the bench (which my dad made for us) and feeling so happy and in love, and having that special ten minutes that everybody talks about.
- Walking into the marquee as husband and wife to ‘I’m a Believer’.
- My first dance to ‘My Girl’ with my Dad.
- Having one of our guests go missing (after having a few too many shandies) and Craig jumped into an old land rover to try and locate him! (we were quite worried as my dad is a farmer and has lots of very deep water reservoirs around the farm!)
Wedding day advice:
- Relax on the morning.
- Spend a few minutes on your own together during the day to reflect on the events.
- Have lots of pictures taken.
- Enjoy every second; it really does go so fast!
- Have a party or an event the next day if you can, we had a BBQ as it was the crazy hot weekend in May and it was amazing to see everybody properly again…I wore my veil all day and carried my bouquet, haha!
