Hey, so this is going to be a little rant on my opinions about FINALLY censoring those horrible 'lad mags' in shops.
Being a girl is a funny thing, the majority of us don't appreciate seeing naked people, especially if you're like me.. i'm a little squeamish when it comes to that. That's why I've always found it weird and uncomfortable that lads mags with covers of naked women are just sat on a self at eye level in a shop. I mean, anyone can see that... I know that young boys learn how to google to word boobs at the age of like 9 these days but, I can't help but wonder if they hadn't seen that kind of exposure before hand.. say when they're doing a weekly food shop with their parents, that they'd even bother.
I find it so awkward when you're looking at the magazine section in a shop - like Tesco or co-op or something and you're looking at a fashion magazine but right on the same shelf at the same eye level is a naked woman just staring at you.. It might just be me but it makes me feel uncomfortable. Its the same with magazines with topless men on them, its equally as awkward and uncomfortable.. I especially do not appreciate my little brother or sister seeing things like that at the age of 9 and 11.
I'm not saying that they should be removed completely, I mean, it's up to you whatever you want to read, or look at, but refusing to put the magazines in modesty bags is just plain stupid to be honest. If the media is kicking up as big of a fuss as it currently is, shops will just end up completely removing the magazines from their shelves, following co-op, if all it takes is a modesty bag to protect shoppers from feeling uncomfortable and to protect the magazine company and profits.. then why not do it?!
