Welcoming a child into the world may be one of the most highly-anticipated and beautiful experiences for any couple, but even celebrities go through their fair share of difficulty in preparing for the big day. While financial support, a team of professionals waiting to assist, and the support of family and friends make the birthing experience easier, each pregnancy is truly a unique and individual labor of love.
No pregnancy has been well-publicized and eagerly anticipated than the birth of the new Prince or Princess of England. Newly minted royal mom Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, are expecting their first child in July of 2013. Kate Middleton, also known as the Duchess of Cambridge, is 31 years old and only recently a new bride. While marrying into the royal family may have certain perks, all the comforts in the world do not necessarily ensure an easy pregnancy.
The Duchess of Cambridge spent most of the first trimester of her pregnancy in the hospital, suffering from acute morning sickness that seemed to afflict the young mother around the clock. She has needed to be treated repeatedly for dehydration, nausea, and to avoid malnutrition, which can ultimately impact the health of the future Prince or Princess. Known as hyperemesis gravitum, this condition can lead to severe consequences for both mother and child if untreated.
However, things are looking a bit rosier for Prince William and his charming bride. Kate Middleton is now out of the hospital, and beginning her second trimester with a great improvement in health and energy. Prince William, who is a member of the Royal Air Force, will be spending the next few weeks honoring commitments of his own, making for one very busy couple.
Another set of proud parents expecting a July arrival are reality television star Kim Kardashian, and boyfriend Kanye West, a successful recording artist and producer. The happy couple only recently announced the pregnancy when the media began to notice changes in the petite mother’s appearance. Kim Kardashian has announced she has no immediate plans to marry, as her legendary 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries has yet to be finalized. Although the divorce proceeding have lasted twice as long as the marriage, neither Kim nor Kanye see her separation as an obstacle to the happy couple building a family together.
On her hit reality television docudrama, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, viewers are able to follow both the story lines that document the 30-year-old socialite’s blossoming relationship with Kanye, but her struggles with infertility. In order to be able to conceive, Kardashian had to consult with numerous doctors and undergo fertility treatments. She has stated that her pregnancy is that much more special, given the worries she’s had regarding her inability to conceive.
Although the British Duchess and the American television icon couldn’t seem more different, they in fact share common bonds that go beyond the July babies the ladies are expecting. Both are multitasking preparations for the upcoming arrivals with balancing careers and public appearances, and dealing with the absence of their high-profile beaus.
Likewise, both Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian are attracting attention from the tabloids regarding the lavish decor of the nurseries. While television programs have been filmed on the subject of building the royal nursery, the Kardashian baby is rumored to be starting out his or her life in an 11 million dollar crib. Needless to say, neither of these children will be wanting for anything once making an appearance in the world.
