In early 2013, luxury watchmaker Cartier will add a chronograph watch to the Cartier Calibre line of men’s watches. The Calibre line, up until this release, has offered exclusively time-only watches, which have no second hands or date. The Chronograph will retain many of the features of the Calibre line, such as the in-house made Cartier movement and a three-date aperture.

The Chronograph will be available in a stainless steel or rose gold case, with the option of steel, gold, or leather wristband. The Calibre de Cartier Chronograph will also feature a double-barrel power source and a linear return-to-zero hammer. The watch’s inner-workings are visible through a transparent, sapphire-crystal case back, emblazoned with the brand’s name.

Other features include a chronograph pusher inserted into the extended crown structure, a 12-hour, bi-compax chronograph, and the in-house designed Cartier 1904 MC, which has been designated 1904-CH MC for use in the Chronograph. The movement is automatic with a column wheel-based chronograph with 48 hours of power reserve.
Some key differences between the time-only Calibres and the new Chronograph addition to the line are larger, more visible hour markers, as well as the date aperture’s move from the 3 o’clock position to 6 o’clock, making for a more symmetrical watch face.
