Back when carpe carmina turned 3 years old ...
... Jeni Magana, who performs under the name of Magana as both solo act and backed up by a band, has been playing various shows in different districts of her current home New York City. Working closely together with the label she has signed with, Audio Antihero, Magana released her first solo EP called 'Golden Tongue' (a tonal depiction of heartache, unease and yearning) at the end of october last year, contributed to a charity long-player Audio Antihero compiled and gained spots at SofarNYC in 2016 as well as early this year. In march the charismatic songstress has been put up on a poll for emerging artists by The Deli Magazine; deservedly, given her subtle songwriting goes well with her silky, sensitive voice. Back at gigging in New York and California on a regular basis (Magana will open for Deep Sea River in Brooklyn on june 23rd), the imaginative artist (Jeni does not only stun with her music but also with her photography) has recently shared a live playlist from a session atNice Garage in Huntington, including new single 'No More Friends', of which she recorded a stirringly stunning version for carpe carmina celebrates.
Music well worth listening to ...
... as there is not much more haunting than the velvety vulnerable tone in Magana's voice. Complemented by mesmerizing and ethereal electric-guitar reverb, a welcoming and warm vastness in sound is created you can all too easily lose yourself in.
Let's hear it from Magana ...
'Happy Blog Birthday! They grow up so fast, don't they? Keep up the good work :)'
