carpe carmina celebrates (feat. Beth Keeping)
Another year older, carpe carmina still feels buoyant enough to explore the endless width of the ever rich melodic landscapes ahead of it, with plenty of new releases of beloved bands and promising artists yet to discover, feels vibrant enough as well to share with all of you the many songs resonating with me, and what's even more important, I, for one, still feel passionate enough about music to listen carefully, to indulge wholeheartedly and put my musings about the sounds that inspire and move me to paper. 5 years is yet another milestone reached, a period of copious words written, deep emotions felt and intimate tonal moments cherished
And though there is no big birthday bash happening this year, there's, however, at least one good reason to join me celebrating half a decade of often verbose, commonly poetic and pensive, always enthused narratives focusing on what makes each song reviewed so memorable and stirring (for me and for you hopefully too). That reason is Beth Keeping's stunning stripped-back performance of 'Naked'. My favourite track of the singer/songwriter's debut EP 'Fool' (out since mid april) offers everything I look for in folk-pop music as it blends dulcet acoustic melodies with powerful vocal delicacy so invitingly well. But see for yourself [and hear me add a few more words about this very special event (oh well, they grow up so fast, don't they?!)].

For those interested in checking on the rest of the songs featured on Beth Keeping's EP, go here (the atmospherically emotive 'Strangers In The Same City', the hauntingly thrilling 'Dodged a Bullet', the smoothly sharp 'No Hard Feelings' and the soulfully wistful 'Fool' await you). Read about Beth' efforts to  support women in music here and find me having a look at her music video for 'Dodged a Bullet' here

Thank you so much for contributing to carpe carmina celebrates in 2018 and for the beautiful words said about my musings, Beth! Thank you, dear readers and listeners, for sticking around for so long and for being open to give new music a try!

note: please excuse the very poor quality of the video, it's one I had to record via an app from my laptop screen as movie maker refused to save the settings of my video properly.
