Carmina Charm #13

carmina charm #13Do you know that our soul is composed of harmony?

- Leonardo DaVinci

It's harmony that your soul and mind embraces again when listening to music. As sound surrounds you, only some melodies firmly resonate with you, get an immediate emotional response - whilst their approach is a smooth and soft one, whilst they slowly, carefully but steadily cling to you, these melodies eventually grab you with an intensity and force that overwhelms, that fully absorbs and stirs. It's these very melodies that are in chime with your mind and soul, it's music that leaves an imprint on your being and mesmerizes ... music that charms

XXVII. Arno Arno
carmina charm #13

It's with a brisk and haunting richness in sound that the listener's imagination is captured, when roaming the scenic, blissful sonic and lyrical landscape of 'Arno Arno' [due to be released on June 8th - which happens to be carpe carmina's 2nd anniversary too. Conicidence?! ;)]. Atmospheric and ludic tonal reverb is harmoniously coupled with light and dulcet melodic flow while stirring, soulful vocals of bright, velvety timbric touch take the mellifluously luring lead. Sensitive liverpool-based songsmith and avid music promoter Johnny Sands chose a vibrant, melodiously opulent composition as prelude to his new album 'Films', which will be released under the guidance of Baltic Records later this year. And after hearing it once, after beeing mesmerized by its natural melodic beauty and ease, falling for the song's soothing and ambient, however vivifying charm is inevitable.

XXVIII. Payday Playboys
carmina charm #13

It's only been a few months since dynamic debut single 'Men In Suits' struck a chord with indie rock lovers, yet manchester 3-piece The Mantells did up the ante with socio-critical, vivaciously melodious new release 'Payday Playboys' already. When atmospheric, jauntily sweeping guitar play is accentuated by a vivid, powerfully reverberative drum pulse, when edgy bass sonority flirts blantantly with ardent and brisk, breezing expressive vocal power, you know you're in for something musically flavourful. Without being obtrusive, overwhelming even, the song's overall bracing and blithe melodic vibe fuels the audience's favour applying both witty lyrics and a spirited compositional style, makes for a fresh, pleasant and rhythmically sonorous sound that thrills all through.
