A care home group which runs four care homes in Newcastle upon Tyne has been given a prestigious award for the quality of services it provides to its residents.
The Abbeyfield Newcastle Upon Tyne Society Ltd was presented with its Gold Star award by the CEO of the Abbeyfield Society, Paul Allen, who said at the prize-giving:
“Abbeyfield Newcastle demonstrated excellent leadership qualities, stringent and well thought through policies and procedures but above all, everything that they do is very much in the best interests of the residents that they care for and this is clearly evident in the positive way that they spoke about their experiences and the uplifting atmosphere that exists within the homes.”
The care home is run by both staff members and volunteers, many of which have served the Abbeyfield Society for decades. Two volunteers, Sheila Wallis and Peter Fryer, have worked for the organisation for 70 years collectively.
The group is obviously making care training for staffa top priority in its care homes, along with putting residents’ needs first. After years of hard work, many consider the Gold Star award to be well deserved.
