Car Bomb Rips Through Market in KP

car bomb explosion in kurramA car bomb targeting a convoy has killed at least 11 people in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. According to details a powerful explosion was heard when a military convoy was passing through a market in Parachinar town of Kurram agency. Car bomb explosion claimed 11 lives and left 40 injured. Half of the injured are in critical conditions.

“The death toll is 11. There are more than 40 wounded, 20 of them are in serious condition” a government official said.

Kurram is one of the 7 districts that comprises Pakistan’s tribal belt bordering with Afghanistan. Area is Taliban and Al Qaida stronghold. Apart from militancy Parachinar is center point of sectarian violence in the region. Shiite Muslims dominate population and are often targeted by Taliban.

Car bomb explosion was so powerful that it demolished 30 shops and smashed 50 others in the busy market.

No one has claimed responsibility for the car bomb explosions so far. Current Taliban are using vehicles to create mass destruction and monger fear. Just a week ago a similar car bomb attack on US consulate vehicle killed two American citizens.
