Released several years ago, Campbeltown Loch 25 Years is a tremendous blended scotch whisky produced by the folks at Campbeltown’s finest distillery, Springbank. An incredible whisky with an incredible blend of whiskies it’s one of those modern legends worthy of seeking out a taste of.
The high malt blend bill for this whisky (70/30) is too long to lay out in the typical info section; there is also no distillery quote I could dig up. So I’m going to replace that typical section with the full blend bill for this whisky instead… hope you don’t mind

Campbeltown Loch 25 Years Review: OVERALL
There is a musty OBE quality to the Campbeltown Loch 25 Years that comes and goes and makes me think of whisky from the 70s and in a way it’s comforting. The aroma is heavily sweet with just a hint of rustic maltiness, but none of the peat that later arrives in the palate and finish. The palate is a bit darker and carries a more rustic and nutty profile with bits of peat poking through.
The finish is good, but it’s here I find the one off note that I’m a bit sensitive to: soap. Some people are really sensitive to sulfur, some are overly sensitive to oak, others sherry, others peat and so on; mine is soap which can often be from the inclusion of tails in the spirit, but can also come from casks. Regardless of the source it’s the one thing in this that keeps me from loving it more.
SCORE: 90/100 (A-)
Big thanks to Todd for the sample and the info!
