Camera Obscura Edinburgh, a museum like no other.
I’ve always been drawn to the world of magic and illusions but never really spent much time studying all the tricks of the trade. Camera Obscura in Edinburgh is an interesting insight into something that simple minds – like my own – don’t easily comprehend.
Edinburgh’s Camera Obscura, just metres away from Edinburgh Castle, is quite possibly the best museum I have ever been to, and if you’re anything like me (short concentration span) then you’ll end up spending hours and hours in there!
Now you’ve heard my warning; put aside 3 hours for this amazing world of illusions because I was in such a rush to stick to the schedule (Andy’s schedule) that I didn’t have enough time to browse the gift shop. Which looked equally amazing.

Visiting Camera Obscura Edinburgh
Camera Obscura can be found on the Royal Mile, just a few metres down the road from Edinburgh Castle, next door to the Scottish Tartan Museum. Standard admission for adults is £10.95 each and £7.95 for children (under 5s go free). There are also discounts for students and seniors, and it’s across the street from the famous Witchery so lovely traditional grub for afters!
You can end that fantastic tour with the scenic rooftop experience and don’t forget to make time for the cool gift shop. I was in a rush to get to The Dome for cocktails but I managed to grab a couple of bags of Candy Pop Rocks. Just a child at heart…
