April 22, 2012 the Local Government Units of the Lone District of Iligan City headed by Congressman Vicente "Varf" Belmonte, the City Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz, Vice Mayor Henry C. Dy, City Councilor and SP Chairman Committee on Energy Moises G. Dalisay Jr signed and passed a petition to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines NGCP invoking and demanding that the 25% of the total current 200 avialable combined MGW of hydro-electric plant (HEP) Agus 5, 6, 7 be immediately dispatched to Iligan City as the host Local Government Units LGU of the aforementioned three plants.
It seems that nothing can stop the blackout that happens here in Mindanao. Some parts of Mindanao experience black out almost nine (9) hours a day. Iligan City on the other hand experienced a three (3) hours alternating black out everyday.
As to the petition, I believe it is our right to get what we deserve. In lieu to this, I urge the people of Iligan to act and show support to the petition. Join us on the street on May 1, 2012 during the Labor Day Celebration. Enough for the blackout!
