Bude Trip Pt 2

The Bude trip pt 2

After some confusion finding the campsite, I arrived safely. It always amazes me how much I love this part of England. The countryside is beautiful, quaint little villages and lovely little shops, but as you know this isn’t the reason I travel to the west country.

It’s the surf.

So, after pitching my tent, I headed off to Summerleaze beach to see what was what. I was greeted by 2-3 foot waves, a bit messy maybe , but hey beggars can’t be choosers. I quickly donned the wetsuit and grabbed my board. I had to choose: Should I take out the 42” NMD or the 41.5” Core? I chose the Core in the end, but in retrospect I should have taken out the NMD because its crescent tail would have worked better.

Still I had a lovely little session, caught some really sweet waves, got hammered twice mind you!

After changing out of the neoprene, I went off in search of food. I had such a healthy dinner: Basically a wrap filled with melted cheese and veggies with a big old portion of chips!

Back to the campsite, a few glasses of Barefoot vino

and a few chapters of my book read, I hit the sack and slept like the dead.

Monday morning

After waking at around 7:30 and realising that I hadn’t rinsed out my wetsuit from yesterday, I hastily got that job sorted. Thank God, I bought my other suits with me so when I surf today I don’t have to endure putting on a damp suit!

I headed back into town to check the surf conditions and have a look around. I have a lesson booked for this afternoon, but I’m verrrrry tempted to get in again and have a splash around this morning!

I have a lesson booked with these guys this afternoon, so looking forward to that.
