The word bridesmaid brings a smile to any women’s face. After all, it is an honor to be appointed as the bride’s right hand and to know that she trusts you enough to let you take care of so many of the responsibilities that a wedding includes. A bridesmaid’s tasks range from planning the sexy and fun bachelorette party to scheduling cake sampling and flower arrangements and can be quite overwhelming. Their real duty is to help keep the bride stress-free. But what can the bride do to prevent that joyful smile etched upon a newly appointed bridesmaid’s lips from fading?

We at Raymond Jewelers have the answer. It’s simple; the key is in choosing your bridesmaid dresses. Every bridesmaid fears the day of their dress fitting because they fear the dress. For years, bridesmaid have been dressed in matching ruffled disasters that were made to be worn one day and one day only: on their best friend’s wedding day. But it’s becoming more common for the bride to let the bridesmaid choose their own dresses so that there will be a bigger possibility of wearing it more than once.

When choosing your dresses make sure to keep in mind that everyone has a different body type and try to choose dresses that can be flattering on different shapes and sizes. It would also be a good idea to let your bridesmaids each wear a different dress style since no one wants something in their closet that 3 of their other close friends own. A tip for having different styles yet still keeping a uniform look is having a shared detail on all of the dresses. This detail can be some type of embroidery, a pin or a flower. Another idea would be to have them all be the same color or different shades of the same color. This could add more flair to your wedding than having the traditional pink, ruffled matching dresses. Whatever you choose remember how hard your bridesmaids have worked to help you and most importantly, keep in mind that you too might be their bridesmaid one day.
