I took after my dad's mother in the hip department and well, haven't always loved it. Growing up, I've begun to realize that you have to own your appearance. Whether you're big, tall, built like a string bean, or whatever...it doesn't matter if you're perfect, there will always be someone to criticize you. So if someone else is going to criticize you, why are you going to tear yourself down in the process as well? It's like that quote...

“You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” -Dita Von Teese

It's absolutely true. You can have long flowing tresses with Carrie Underwood legs and someone is going to still find a problem with you. It's up to you to build yourself up and own your appearance; which is exactly what I'm striving to do.  The outfit: The shrunken military jacket was a last minute addition to the outfit. Originally I was just going to go bare shouldered but then I changed my mind. Bare shoulders in this dress are just so plain and unoriginal. I picked up this jacket a few days ago and just knew it would be the perfect pairing piece. The collection heels were a great transitional piece for fall because they look almost game day style with the orange and navy stripes. Honestly, they were HELL on heels. Literally. Italian leather shoes are the hardest to break in. But boy once they were broken in...they were FABULOUSThis look is more of a broken down office look. Typically I wouldn't wear the shrunken jacket to the firm but sometimes communicating your own style takes a little bit of risk. And sometimes your boss might love the look even more than you do.xoBCC
