Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

By Hhepton

As someone who isn’t a fan of the original Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, I was a little dubious at trying this one out. So many people rave about the original version, but for me it just wasn’t that great on my dry skin and I proclaimed it a write-off before I even started blogging (way back in June can you believe!) However a little while ago I spotted this on a stall in my local shopping center that stocks cheap makeup, and at £3.99 I thought I would give it a go and see how it faired up compared to the original.

I can honestly say, I’m totally converted! I cannot tell you how happy I am I made this £3.99 purchase on that day, and even at the RRP of £10.99 I genuinely think I’d be happy with it too. Whereas the original Healthy Mix just looked cakey and not very nice at all on my dry skin, the gel formula of the Healthy Mix Serum makes it glide over even my flaky dry patches and leaves a really natural coverage as it does. One of my main problems when it comes to face products is finding a product that doesn’t accentuate all the little flakes on my forehead and nose, and I can safely say this one works a treat to avoid that. Paired with my primer of the minute, Maybelline’s BabySkin, this one has become a firm favorite this month.

It doesn’t give the highest coverage, I’d say this was medium but definitely more than enough for everyday to cover minor blemishes and hide redness or discolouration. I do like to have some concealer on hand though for my awful tired eyes, I don’t think any foundation in the world could brighten those up the way my L’Oreal Lumi Magique Highlighter does! The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation claims to give 16hours of radiant skin, and whilst it does make me look like I have naturally glowing and radiant skin when I first apply it, 16 hours is definitely a slight exaggeration. It certainly does last all day when I’m out at uni 9-5, but 16 hours? Is there any product that will last that long?! One thing I will say is that I don’t think this foundation is for you if you’ve got oily skin, the dewiness may be slightly too much if you’re prone to getting oily throughout the day, but for dry skins… go try it!

Just for reference I have the lightest shade, 51, and it’s a really nice match on my fair skin. It’s slightly yellow toned so that’s something to have in mind, but it’s still very pale and I think I can get away with saying, ‘foundation, what foundation?’ when I’m wearing this!

What’s your favorite foundation at the minute? I’m such a sucker for base products and foundations are definitely my weakness!
