My rating: 1 of 5 stars
It has been a long time since I have read a book written by Danielle Steel. I picked this one to give myself a change from all the books I have been reading.
The story is about a young girl named Lily Thomas. She is a very good skier who is training as part of the Olympic team. As she was to go to ski, the chairlift that she was sitting in broke and she fell. She suffered from a complete severing of her spine which left her unable to use her legs. Her father is unable to accept the fact that she can no longer ski and has scheduled appointments with the most renowned experts he could find. But there is no way for Lily to walk again and she has to learn how to manage her living her life from a wheelchair.
There are many things that I did not particularly like about the book. For one thing, the whole story is told so dryly. There is just nothing there except Danielle telling this and telling that. The flow is clipped and rather lifeless. Another thing is that I saw the way it would end -- as in who ends up with who -- within the first few chapters. Things are just way so obvious that imagination is not needed at all... no siree.
If I could give it less than a star, I would.
