My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The story revolves around a group of boy scouts on a trip with their scoutmaster on an island. One evening the scoutmaster found a stranger wearing dirty and torn clothes asking for food. The guy appeared to be starving and very near death due to starvation. The scoutmaster tries to give him some food. It appears the stranger is a carrier of some strange and deadly bioengineered horror that will change the group's life forever.

I did not like this book. It is that simple. Reading the first chapter was a mega chore and I had wanted to abandon it many times. I think the writer meant the story to be terrifying but I was more bored than anything else. The scoutmaster, who is a doctor, is the stupidest doctor ever (well, except maybe for that quack in our village -- but I digress).

The boy scouts I wanted to hit over the head with a rolling pin because it appears all they ever do is fight and argue. I could feel my head ache with all that fighting! The writer sort of overdid it.

However, there may be some readers who may find the book interesting -- a very, very rare few.
