The Red Queen Dies: A MysteryThe Red Queen Dies: A Mystery by Frankie Y. Bailey
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The story of The Red Queen Dies is set in the year 2019 and revolves around Hannah McCabe, a police detective, who is investigating a number of murders suggesting the work of a serial killer. However, the latest victim is a famous Broadway personality, Ms. Jessup, known as the Red Queen.

The actress is much older than the previous victims and there are some dissimilarities as well. Then again, she was killed in a manner consistent with the earlier murders. So is it the work of a serial killer? A copycat?

The book is a futuristic murder mystery. The investigation into the murders is somewhat interesting but I feel that the story drags somewhat. Though slow, there are some nice elements. I would have given the book more stars if only the pace was better and the smaller cases, being featured in the book as happening along with the serial murders, were more developed -- they appear to be choppy as if they were afterthoughts.
