If you think about the classic southern cememtery with trees covered with Spanish Moss, Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia is probably the cemetery you are thinking about. I had a chance to visit Bonaventure Cemetery on my trip to Savannah and Charleston. I’d seen many photos taken there – so thought I knew what to expect – elaborate gravestones, spanish moss, dogwood, azaleas, live oak trees, wisteria etc. But I was still surprised at how lush and beautiful it was there – and that it was just a bit spooky even in the middle of the day.
OK – maybe the spooky is because I’m a huge Doctor Who fan – and as I walked around photographing all I could think was DON’T BLINK!!!!!
Here are a few of the photos I took at Bonaventure Cemetery.

I fell in love with Savannah, Charleston and the Low Country on my trip in March – already trying to figure out when I get back to the area to do a bit more exploring – including spending more time at Bonaventure Cemetery.
