Bollywood Actor Pran Passes Away

Legendary actor of Bollywood and most loved villain Pran Krishan Sikand, popularly known as Pran passed away on Friday (12.7.13) due to prolonged illness. He breathed his last at around 8.30 p.m. on Friday at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he was undergoing treatment.

The 93 year old actor was famous for portraying negative characters and playing supporting roles.

Pran was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on 30th of May. The doctors treating him said he had many illnesses which included chronic kidney diseases, extensive pneumonia, COPD, Parkinson’s and Sepsis.

In a career spanning over six decades, the veteran actor has appeared in over 400 films and has received many awards and honours. He was conferred the country’s highest cinema honor – Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year.

Pran was born on February 2nd, 1920 in Lahore, began his career in the camera department of Pancholi’s studio in Lahore, but went on to become one of the most-loved villains of Hindi Cinema.

His cremation took place today (13.7.13) at the electric crematorium in Dadar West at around 12.30 p.m. in Mumbai. The entire Bollywood fraternity from Amitabh Bachchan, Gulzar, Karan Johar, Shatrughan Sinha, Danny Denzongpa, Shakti Kapoor, Raza Murad and Anupam Kher were present to pay their last respects.

He is survived by his wife Shukla, sons Arvind and Sunil, daughter Pinky and his beloved grandchildren.
