The BoatUS app for both Android and Apple smartphones and devices may seem at first just an easy way to call BoatUS for a tow if you're a member, but it has a more fun and useful function for all boaters, including those who are not BoatUS members. With a quick couple taps you can send an email or text message to friends or family that provides your current location both in longitude/latitude and as shown on a Google map. That's pretty cool, and much easier than writing out a longer message explaining where you are. I can see non-marine uses too, such as when you're trying to meet up with someone and they ask where you are. While it may not give your precise street address, the mapping is good enough to point out which pub you're sitting in at the moment! Read the app review here.
