Blogmas Day 14: What I Love About Christmas

Hi again internet,

Belle is working two massive shifts this weekend, so I shall be continuing from yesterday and doing blogmas days 14 and 15. Today I want to discuss why Christmas is my favorite season and why I believe it is the favorite season of so many other people as well.

Christmas Spirit

This is one of the main things that I love about Christmas. The season seems to somewhat bring out the best in most people, it pushes them to go that extra mile to be more helpful and kind towards other people – be that by doing a simple act such as holding a door open for someone or letting someone out of a busy junction or by doing something more hands on such as donating more money to charity than usual. The reason I love this so much, is because this is how I wish everyone acted all the time, but I know that’s not possible. Sometimes with the general day to day stresses of life you just don’t have the time or the energy to think about other people as much as you’d like, but at Christmas that all seems to change and people seem to push themselves that little be harder to be more kind and giving to society.

Decorations

In my house Christmas decorations are a big deal, and they are by far my favorite part of the Christmas Season. We decorate literally every single room in our house, we even decorate our bathrooms. We have 4 Christmas trees, and not a counter or table goes with a splash of Christmas magic. I don’t know whether it is because my house has always been like this at Christmas time ever since I was a baby (because my Mum is a fanatical lover of Christmas) that has made me love Christmas decorations so much or whether I would have loved them as much even if my house hadn’t always been done the way it has. All I do know is, Christmas for me now, just wouldn’t be the same without them.

The Christmas Meal

My final point that I am going to talk about today that I love about Christmas, is the un-beatable, un-matchable meal that is the family Christmas dinner. For me I love my Christmas dinner more than any other meal I will have in the entire year, and there are a couple of main reasons for this. Firstly, it just tastes so god damn good. But also, I think it is just the amount of heart and effort that goes into it. In our house my Mum literally starts preparing the Turkey at 7am in the morning and doesn’t stop until the meal is served. We have so many sides and sauces and dips and home-made gravy that by the time it is all served up you can hardly see the table that stands beneath the plates holding it all. For me, this really is the best meal of the year, and without fail every December 25th I know that I am going to stuff my face into a food coma and make new amazing memories with my family that I will keep with me for the rest of my life – and to me, that truly is what Christmas is all about.
