Bloggiesta Update 1

Are you doing Bloggiesta? I’m having a great time so far. Here’s my list with what I worked on today.

The things I normally do at the start of a Bloggiesta:

• Back up WordPress site with FileZilla
• Back up blog with WordPress Tools
• Do WordPress updates
• Test my website load time with Pingdom Tools as recommended by The Redhead Riter Argh! It’s slow (something I’ve noticed recently). I don’t know how to fix that.
• Run the security scan at Sucuri as recommended by Sophisticated Dorkiness Argh, again! It found a couple of problems and I don’t know what to do about that.

Normally, though, my blog passes the load time and security tests. I’m not sure what to do since they didn’t. I’m going to spend some time working that out tomorrow.

Next, some things I hope to accomplish during this Bloggiesta:

• Complete one or more mini-challenges
  • Amanda Shofner: How to Tackle Google+
  • Rebecca from Love at First Book: Twitter List Tutorial 
• Participate in one or more Twitter chats
• Visit lots of blogs
• Fix up my categories, including banish “Miscellaneous”
• Update my Health Books page
• Look into the JetPack plug-in
• Look into the Yoast SEO plug-in
• Draft future blog posts

I just enjoyed the Google Hangout with Amanda Shofner about Google+ and I’m looking forward to tonight’s chat.
