Bloggiesta Finish Line

By Joyweesemoll @joyweesemoll

Bloggiesta buttonBloggiesta is over. Here are the blog and social media feats that I accomplished over three days.

Explored feed readers to replace Google Reader with a mini-challenge hosted by The Picky Girl: Google Reader Replacement Options — A Bloggiesta Mini-Challenge.

Created a page for my 2013 Challenges and signed up for another challenge: Books on France 2013 — A Reading Challenge.

Tidied up my sidebar and updated photos on my blog and elsewhere while completing a mini-challenge hosted by Debz Bookshelf: Declutter Your Sidebar — Bloggiesta Mini-Challenge.

Processed my photos from the Orchid Show and put them up as a Saturday Snapshot post: Orchid Show. Those proved to be a nice breath of spring when we got walloped by a snowstorm on Sunday.

Learned about Amanda of On a Book Bender for the Getting to Know You — Bloggiesta Mini-Challenge hosted by It’s All About Books. Amanda wrote the first mini-challenge that I completed this weekend and one that helped me all weekend: Through a Visitor’s Eyes — Bloggiesta Mini-Challenge. That included making a Contact page.

I started with three things that have become a Bloggiesta tradition:

  • Back up WordPress site with FileZilla
  • Back up blog with WordPress Tools
  • Do WordPress updates

I’ve decided that I want to add a couple more things to that and make it an official list that I do at the beginning of each Bloggiesta. Here’s what I’m adding:

There were several things on the list that I didn’t do, but still intend to complete this week:

  • Work up a review for Your Playlist Can Change Your Life
  • Draft the next GenFab post
  • Work on planning and scheduling of blog posts

And there were several more things that I didn’t do that may wait until the next Bloggiesta because that’s the only time I seem to get things done on my blog:

  • Make a compliments page
  • Fix up my categories, including banish “Miscellaneous”
  • Update my Health Books page
  • Look into the JetPack plug-in
  • Look into click to tweet
  • Look into the Yoast SEO plug-in

I added two things to the list during the event:

  • Make a reviews archive
  • Add casual photos to my About page

So that’s my Bloggiesta! I’m thrilled that I finally completed some things that I intended to do in December. How was your Bloggiesta? Don’t forget to take the final survey: March 2013 Bloggiesta Finish Line And Feedback Survey.
