Blast in ANP Meeting Kills 16 in Peshawar

Ghulam Ahmed BilourAt least 16 people were killed and 45 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself away during an Awami National Party (ANP) corner meeting in Peshawar on Tuesday night.

Policemen, minors and a local journalist were also among the dead.

At least 200-300 ANP workers and leaders were attending a public meeting in Yakatoi area of provincial capital when a moderate intensity blast targeted them.

Former Railway Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour was also in present the meeting but miraculously he remained safe and received a few minor injuries.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Police cordoned-off the area immediately and launched probe. The rescuers and emergency teams shifted dead and injured to hospital, where several injured are still said to be in critical condition and death toll is feared to climb.
