Before I begin this morning, I need to sort of set the stage since my Sunday evening viewing didn't really go as planned. Blame Pilates. Yep that's right...I took a killer Pilates class on Sunday morning that just kicked my butt. I was in so much pain that I got in bed all set to watch my shows last night, surrounded my body in heating pads and didn't get very far. Just as Revenge began, I was out. Had to get up super early to watch Homeland, because I just had to...so keep that in mind as you read. Damn Pilates!
Wow...it was definitely worth getting up early to watch Homeland this AM. Okay so Brody told most of the truth during his Abu Nazir meeting debrief...most of it, and then knew he had to take care of his family if everything his pal told him went off as planned. Of course Carrie sent Mike to handle Jess and the kids which set up some good stuff for all of us. Chris the oblivious son who only cared about the flat screens in the safe house. Dana the brooding daughter, hit and run passenger, who, trust me is going to be the one to blow the lid off the whole operation at some point, and of course Jess who was probably psyched to see Mike at her door saying they all had to go into hiding. I knew she was up to something when she insisted Mike take the guest room. Of course she slipped in there in the middle of the night, and so did Mike. (Good one, right?). Oh and BTW, I'm pretty sure, hers are real and they obviously were spectacular. With Brody's intel, the team got all of the terrorists except the big kahuna, Abu Nazir, (if we had gotten him there wouldn't be another season) in what seemed to be a relatively simple take down. The bigger news was really the fact that Quinn is really John and he's working for a separate part of the CIA whose goal is to kill Brody once they've used him up. I had a feeling Quinn wasn't who we thought he was. Exhausting and enjoyable and only 3 more juicy episodes left. Hoping Jess is preggers with Mike's baby, but that's a whole different show now isn't.
3rd episode of TBS's The Wedding Band and instead of a scantily clad Megan Fox, this week, we got strippers and stripper poles. I get it, they're trying to appeal to guys here, but I'm betting women are tuning in too. We like Brian Austin Green, weddings and musicians. The show COULD be for us. I still really like the show, I really do, but I have issues with it. A) it needs to be funnier, B) The guys are a bit too idiotic, especially Brian Austin Green's "Tommy" and Peter Cambor's "Eddie" C) There isn't enough BAND in The Wedding Band, which is the best part of the show and D) while the songs are available on Itunes, the videos are STILL not up on the website. Ahhh that felt good to get off my chest. It just frustrates me when I see a show that isn't living up to it's fullest potential and maximizing the opportunity to be better than it is. Over the holiday weekend, I saw Skyfall and Argo in the theatre. Skyfall was really good, but Argo was one of the best movies I've seen in a long long time. So well done, Ben Affleck's direction was truly brilliant and Oscar worthy. I highly recommend it. NEWS & INFORMATION: *Discovery cancelled Dirty Jobs. I thought the show jumped the shark once they had to leave the United States to find more dirty jobs. 8 seasons was a good run for our favorite dirty guy...Mike Rowe. He's still got jobs with Ford and The Deadliest Catch so I'm not THAT worried about him.
*Chevy Chase leaving Community. I liked one of the quotes I read about this "big" news. "Actor nobody cares about, leaving show nobody watches". Yep that pretty much sums it up now doesn't it?*On X Factor Arin Ray and Beatrice Miller packed their bags. I didn't watch any X Factor at all last week, but I still am surprised that Cece the leopard girl is still around.
*Downton Abbey was renewed in Britain (and hopefully here too) for a 4th season. Good to know that we should all stick with this one. The US season 3 starts on 1/6/13 and if you guys haven't watched seasons 1 & 2...get on it.
*Larry Hagman passed away at the age of 81. Yes I'm sad, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure that most of the second season of Dallas was already shot, but sort of almost guarantees there not being a season 3 anyone will care about right? RIP Larry/JR/Maj. Anthony Nelson
*Gangnam Style by Psy became the number one YouTube video of all time with 814 million views as I type this.
*Puck from The Real World is now in prison for stalking someone. The guy was a wacko from the second we met him in San Francisco in 1994. He was grosser than gross and just a piece of work, doesn't shock me at all that he's in jail now. What does shock me, is that Pam and Judd, from the same season (which was also the one with Pedro the HIV guy) are still married, with 2 kids and living in San Fran. Never thought they'd last.
*While all of the numbers and facts are far from being tallied, here is what we know so far about this year's Black Friday sales:
-Retail foot traffic was up 3.5% vs. last year with 307 million total visits.
-BUT, Black Friday sales were down 1.8% vs. last year at $11.2 billion vs. $11.4 billion
-Blame it on Black Thursday-stores were open and people shopped
-Blame it on online sales which topped 1 billion for the first time ever, jumping 26% vs last year. ($1.04 billion vs. $816 million)
-Total online sales rose 17% on Thanksgiving and 21% on Black Friday
-For the record...I am 100% done with my holiday shopping and I did 99% of it online.
Monday's Trivia Question: Who had the record of most viewed YouTube video prior to Psy's Gangnam Style? WWTM-Kristy
