When you are writing a PhD thesis there are good days and bad days. Days when you feel proud as you watch all your hard work and doubts and thoughts come together into something tangible. An actual book. But there are days where you are lost in data and spreadsheets...corrupted spreadsheets. And on those days, the only thing to do is treat yourself kindly. On such a day last week I treated myself to a mind-blowing bottle of olive oil infused with black truffle. I bought a crunchy french stick, removed a bottle of red from the wine rack and parked myself at the bench in the late afternoon sun. It was glorious. Spreadsheet? What spreadsheet?
I'm going to start learning how to cook Italian. I shall share this journey with you over the weeks to come.
