Last night other than the Yankee game and a little AGT, I watched a really really great movie on Netflix called Bernie starring Jack Black and Shirley MacLaine. I have no idea where I heard about it, but I keep a list of movies, books, and TV shows that people tell me about in my phone and since nothing was on, I figured I'd go to the list. Bernie's a great find. I knew nothing about it which is a fun way to watch a movie...no expectations at all. It's based on a true story about the nicest guy in Texas who ended up working for the meanest woman in Texas. I don't really want to tell you much about it, because it would ruin it for you, but trust me, this is a good one. I'm surprised that Jack Black didn't get accolades for his acting (and his singing) in this movie because it's really nothing like he's ever done before. I love an awesome find like this one. I hope you check it out over the Summer...and if you find a cool movie...let me know! NEWS & INFORMATION:
-Just a reminder that BIG BROTHER is back tonight on CBS at 8pm. For anyone who's not on the bandwagon, this Summer is the PERFECT time to jump on. There's really not much else on until Breaking Bad in August and I am going to be talking about BB a lot, so seriously think about it.
-I don't want you guys to think that I'm not reporting about the potential sale of Hulu. I've been reading a lot about it and right now there are a lot of rumors and speculation about which companies have thrown their hats in the ring, which companies haven't, and who the current front runner is. Nothing has been made official yet, but when it is announced who the big winner is, I promise to let you all know. I swear.
-On a similar note, sort of, Piper Jaffray & Co. studied all of the programming available from Hulu and its current competitors, Amazon, and Netflix and found that Netflix had the deepest and most diverse programming options while Hulu had the most popular content. Of the top 75 TV shows available for streaming, Hulu had 44% of them, Netflix 33% and Amazon 7%. In the movie category, Netflix led with 14% followed by Amazon with 11% and Hulu had none of them! I have subscriptions to all of them and I seem to use Amazon more for TV and Netflix for movies, but that's just me.
