"Who run da world?"Well quite honestly it's Beyonce. This summer you've not been able to escape the lady, which I for one being a huge Beyonce fan am not going to complain about. For me it's turned from 'girl crush' to 'girl LOVE'. Starting off with that now already classic and unforgetable AND mind blowing Glastonbury performance, plus a hot new album '4', she is now going to be gracing our High St. with her fashion line 'House of Deréon'.
It's no wonder she's known casually to her friends as 'Queen B' with hubby Jay-Z the 'King of hip-hop'; can this woman get any more powerful? I'm sure she'd find a way...
The ready-to-wear fashion line launched in 2005 is designed alongside her mother Tina Knowles, famous for continously dressing Destinys Child in all their costumes from music videos to their Grammy performances; Beyonce still has her mother there as her stylist. Some may say the fashion line looks confused whereas when getting a clearer understanding it's a very clever concept, taking its inspirations from three generations in the family, with the name Deréon taking tribute to Beyonce's Grandmother, Agnèz Deréon. In an interview with Ebony magazine Beyonce stated:
"I love the clothes from the '70s, my mother's clothes. I love clothes from the '40s, my grandmother's style, so elegant. We wanted to take elements from my grandmother's legacy—the beaded lace, lush colors, fine fabrics—and mix them with. N clothes from my mother's generation and my generation."
So what can you expect from AW11 collection 'City/Jungle'? It's a warming change to see brights introduced for the colder seasons. The pieces include flirtacious dresses in a mixture of prints, autumn winter staple pieces, woven knitwear and tops (bound to be an instant sell out) complimenting alongside on trend luxe sports wear. Are we buzzing with excitement? Yes!? I thought so. Beyonce will be making an appearance at a special launch event in Selfridges during Fashion Week. I can't bloody wait.
