Best Ways to Complete a Layette

By Livedwithlove @kerrymarie
If you or someone you love has a baby on the way, you’re sure to be feeling overwhelmed by everything there is to do. From furnishing the nursery to picking out names, it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed. Often, we don’t really think about what clothing our baby will need – but you’re going to need a little more than just a couple of onesies or romper suits. The concept of a layette is simple – it contains everything a newborn baby needs to stay warm and snug, at least for the first few months. Best ways to complete a layette Completing a layette is a great way to ensure that, with all that’s going on during those first few months, you don’t have to stress about what your new baby’s going to wear. And if you’re completing one for a friend, they’re sure to be filled with gratitude for the stress and hassle it takes out of welcoming a newborn. But what should a layette include?
The first thing you’ll want to get is a cute ‘take me home’ outfit. You’ll want it to be something soft and comfortable on the new baby’s skin, but nothing too fussy or complicated – a simple cotton or fleece romper suit is perfect for this. You’ll also want to get some bodysuits or onesies with wide head openings to make them easy to get on and off – anywhere between 4 and 8 should suffice, dependent on how often you’re prepared to wash baby’s wardrobe. You’ll also need some basics in the form of vests or undershirts – ones with snap fastenings at the neck will make keeping baby warm and snug quicker and easier when it’s time to get them dressed. And don’t forget plenty of socks and booties too – you won’t need to worry about shoes until your baby is up and walking about. For some really cute versions, check the baby clothing range at http://www.couporando.co.uk/voucher-codes/tk-maxx  where you’ll find some great deals. You might not leave the house too much with baby those first few days, so make sure you’ve got plenty to keep them comfy at home. You’ll want a good selection of pajamas or sleeping shirts for them to cuddle up in – again anywhere between 4 and 8 dependent on how often you want to put things through the wash. And don’t forget sleeping sacks and blankets for them to snuggle into at night. One baby starts exploring the great outdoors, there are a few more essentials they’ll need to get by. At least one good sweater and one jacket are advisable, even if you live in a milder climate, while winter babies and those in colder countries should also have some mittens, a wooly hat and a scarf. You might also want to consider getting a thick fleece all-in-one or snowsuit if the weather is really chilly.   For summer babies, you’ll want to make sure they stay protected from the sun’s harsh rays. A wide-brimmed hat is essential to protect their delicate skin, and you might also want to consider getting them a bathing suit for their first introduction to the paddling pool. Finally, a few essential non-clothes items will complete your layette. Bibs and burb clothes will help reduce to amount of times you need to wash your baby’s clothes, while a gentle detergent is important for making sure no harsh chemicals are irritating their young skin.
