Berkeley Castle Part I

My favorite bits from the walled garden and butterfly house at Berkeley Castle. Just a quick 30 minute drive from Bristol, this place is owned by the Berkeley family and is a bit of a tourist trap, it's biggest claim to fame being that Edward II was imprisoned and murdered there. Steeped in history, then.
Naturally we went for the butterflies and garden but had a look round the castle too. You couldn't take pictures in the castle, which is a big shame because I would have taken some corkers! There were some great tapestries and furniture inside I would have liked to have photographed. On top of this, the signage and information in the castle is a bit limited, so we felt somewhat shortchanged. Next time I'll be going just for the gardens and butterfly house (much cheaper) and the cafe in the yurt, which was lovely and did a smashing cup of tea and cheesecake.
