Like the Belle Meade XO, the Belle Meade Bourbon Madeira Finish is made from 3 barrels aged for 7-9 years and then blended together at cask strength. Once blended they get put into a Malmsey Madeira cask to finish for at least 3 months. Once finished they cut it down to 45.2%, bottle it and ship it.

Malmsey is the richest and sweetest tasting of the Madeira styles and is renowned for the depth and complexity of its honeyed flavors. Tasting Notes

EYE
Ruddy caramel

NOSE
Oak, cherry heavy dark fruit, toffee, winey sweetness, strawberry candy and a light bit of cocoa and spice.

PALATE
Winey sweetness, citrus oil, oak, toffee, nuts, cocoa and some cinnamon and leather.

FINISH
Long -> Fruit, toffee, nuts, oak and spice.

BALANCE, BODY & FEEL
Nicely balanced, medium-full body and a syrupy feel.

Belle Meade Madeira Finish is a fruity sweet and dry oaky whiskey that’s nicely balanced.

Belle Meade Bourbon Madeira Finish Review: Overall and Score

The aroma of the Belle Meade Bourbon Madeira Finish is the best part by far. It’s balanced and elegant with its oak-driven style supported with fruity sweetness. The palate and finish flips to being more sweet driven with the oak and spice acting as the balancing supports.

I do wish for a slightly more rustic profile in the whiskey as a whole, but as it stands it’s a lovely whiskey and I find myself wanting a pour after a long day; looking for that sweet and dry oaky profile. Definitely a tasty whiskey.
