First death anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto observed today

The first death anniversary of former chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – Begum Nusrat Bhutto –observed with reverence on Tuesday.

Massive number of PPP workers aggregated in Garhi Khuda Bux at her shrine, where Quran Khawani was arranged. PPP leaders and parliamentarians offered prayers heaped floral wreaths on her grave.

The most notable attendees were Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Provincial Ministers Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, and MNA Ramesh Lal. At the occasion the PPP leadership refreshed the vows to continue struggle for protecting democracy.

The PPP workers across the country marked the day with various programmes, in which they paid rich tribute to Madar-e-Jamhooriat for her services for the democracy.

Wife of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and the mother of slain PM Benazir Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto was born in 1929 in Isfahan, Iran.

After receiving Bachelor degree from University of Isfahan she migrated to Pakistan along with her family in 1950. The massive protests against military dictatorship scaled her to political heights and earned her the honor of ‘Madar-e-Millat.’

Begum Nusrat Bhutto served two terms as a Member of Parliament to the National Assembly from Larkana.
