Beauty Bloggers TAG!

By Reeseatomic @reeseatomic

This has been circulating the blogosphere lately and goodness only knows why it’s taken me so long to do this.

Beauty Bloggers TAG!

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
Blogging, in general, I’ve been doing since I was thirteen. But I’ve been a beauty blogger for just over two years. I only started beauty blogging to keep my mind distracted, knowing that makeup and beauty products were the only things that would keep me interested for longer than a week.

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
No one in particular but I do like the ladylike blogs with the florals, pastels, bows, cupcakes and teacups. They’re beautiful and inspirational. Also, I LOVE Mummy Blogs. They’re so interesting.

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product you bought and was it worth the hype?
Really? Nothing! I am such a late bloomer when it comes to beauty products. When there’s a new product just launched I wait to see the reaction of everyone else before I purchase it myself.
It took me a good three months to buy my first Revlon Lip Butter.

What are your favorite five things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?
1. Obviously playing with makeup and beauty products is awesome!
2. Connecting with people who like doing the same.
3. Trying out new products.
4. Getting to write your thoughts of certain products.
5. Reading other people’s thoughts on beauty products and makeup.

What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
SO much! You have to be completely honest with what you write about and you need to OWN what you write. There are some beauty bloggers who write a post but take it down when people don’t like it.
Also, we started beauty blogging for the simple reason of we love beeauty products and makeup. We don’t do it for advertising or free products.

Have you changed anything since being a beauty blogger?
I definitely have. My skin is thicker and I’m more aware of what I need in my beauty vanity.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
Do this because you love it, not because you can cash on advertising or free products. If that’s your main agenda, you will fail with flying colours. PR can see it and so can everyone else.
Spend the first year engaging readers with posts.

Name your top five brands!
1. Inglot.
2. Models Prefer.
3. Too Faced.
4. Illamasqua.
5. KORA Organics.

Recommend your top five favorite beauty products!
1. A high quality facial cream with SPF.
2. A good mascara. You’d be surprised how ‘put together’ you look after you’ve applied it.
3. A neutral eyeshadow palette. Basic eye look never goes out of fashion.
4. Blush. Whether it’s powder, cream or pressed… you need to have blush. Adding that bit of flush to your cheeks is always pretty.
5. A staple lipstick. Any shade, find something that you will always fall back on.
