Baltimore. I had never considered this city as a holiday destination. But, it is such a vibrant place with so much going on. I spend my time gazing, so much so, I wander off after strangers instead of the girls until they call my name. It feels like real America. Everyone is so casual and friendly. The staff in Bubba Gumps seafood restaurant sing and dance for those who are having a birthday. There was a festival last night with live music on the waterfront and as the sun went down Baltimore turned a beautiful orange and pink before our eyes.
It is hot here...really hot. So after a walk around the harbor yesterday, we took shelter from the high temperatures in the mall. Hard work really; a new city, shopping, eating fresh seafood by the water.
Today was the first day of the conference and whilst lining up for coffee I met a doctor from Minnesota. I said I was from Dunedin, New Zealand, to which he replied: 'Is that near Tanzania?' I informed him that he was thinking of Tasmania and that was actually part of Australia, not New Zealand. He was so embarrassed he paid for my coffee. I'm loving the USA, such a cool place. I don't really want to come home...
Just some shots of the harbor and the amazing summer sky above. I have a two hour break tomorrow, so I hope to get lost amongst the streets of downtown and take some photos of the architecture.
Much love from Maryland XX
