If you are a Batman fan of any sort, this is the type of book you want to own. IDW put together a hardcover book collecting all the daily newspaper Batman strips from 1966 through 1967 in one Bat-tastic collection.
This collection is awesome for a few reasons. One is it’s Batman, duh. Another is it’s classic. Not long after the start of the Batman TV show, the newspaper strips began. The book starts off with a bunch of pages of the history of the newspaper strip. Included in this history are images of advertisements and great behind the scenes information to satisfy your Bat-fever. After the initial history, we dive into the Sunday color strips. Originally, the Sunday strips contained storylines separate from the daily continuity. From May 29th to December 16th, 1966 we get a full-page of color Batman comic strips. Then the daily-only stories begin in black and white. They range from May 30th – December 17th, 1966. After this we start to get a combined continuity throughout the week and for a whole year. There are so many panels and strips in this book. The newspapers cannot be dismissed from Batman’s history! This collection is full of great and fun stories that every Bat-fan should read.
