If you read the last issue or Troy’s review of it, the pace picked back up and is running at full steam. In this issue the momentum doesn’t stop. Commissioner Forbes gets brought in to see Flacone about a little problem. This time the problem isn’t Batman. Catwoman show up again and is stealing from Falcone. The scars on Falcone’s face shows that the history between isn’t the greatest. Forbes now has another top priority in finding and capturing Catwoman. You might ask how there can be two top priorities. When you’re Falcone, you get to change the rules.
Batman is in Tokyo and here he is immediately in battle. He gets a little help from a character by the name of Jiro. Jiro is Batman of Japan. I thought is was a very nice way of introducing a character many people (as well as myself) are not familiar with or possibly never even heard of. Here is where we get the back story of what went on in Tokyo between Falcone and Shen Fang. There were tons of great touches in Japan from the Penthouse on top of Wayne Industries designed for Batman Incorporated. Inside you see Japanese versions of items that you would find in the Batcave. A giant Yen coin and a huge Godzilla to play on the penny and T-Rex. With that being said, the mystery woman from the end of issue 8 shows up. She’s not there very long and doesn’t say who she is before an unfortunate circumstance happens. Batman confronts Shen Fang and gets the details about what really happened between him and Falcone. Back in Gotham, Catwoman got caught up in a trap and Batman is on his way back. Batman is bringing back the mystery woman as he finds out her true identity. MIND BLOWN!
Wow! What an issue. There were so many aspects that I enjoyed about this. The details behind the gang war in Tokyo, the Japanese Batman, Tokyo atmosphere, mystery twist. All this packed in one issue. I don’t see any signs of it slowing down. Nine weeks in and there is plenty to keep any Batfan occupied. Visually, I agree with Troy on the work of Guillem March’s work. In this series I am enjoying it. There are some exceptional scenes in this book and the colors play a big part in it as well. I am very please overall so far but with the amount of sub stories going on, I hope they don’t fall by the wayside. Until next week…
