We have some odd team ups in Batman Eternal #7. The turf war is spreading across Gotham and Falcone isn’t making any friends in the process.
We get a heavy dose of Pyg in this book. Someone blew up his factory and now he’s squealing like someone just branded him. While this is going on, Penguin’s Iceberg Casino is under attack. Since ol’ Bats can only be in one place at a time, he goes for the closer place but knows it’s a setup. While Batman is taking care of Pyg, someone else is trying to get Penguin under control. Oddly enough Catwoman is there for her own reasons and has a bit of bad timing. Falcone attacks the Iceberg and seems to be ahead in the game right now. Here is where we see that side of Catwoman where you don’t know if she is a villain or a hero but she always has time for one man.
This war is getting pretty out of hand. If there is one thing that happens in superhero stories, it’s destruction of some sort. Things are getting blown up like crazy lately. It’s not one man after another man anymore. They are trying to wipe their existence off the face of the Earth. I can only imagine the repercussions that Cobblepot is going to instill on Falcone for what he has done. They question that still plays over in my head is ‘how is Batman going to stop it all?’ If it wasn’t for Selina in this chapter, who knows what would have happened. I like that he is using his connection when he can. It shows that he can’t do it all by himself and he knows that too.
I can’t believe that 7 weeks have gone by already since the start of Batman Eternal. I really am enjoying the story so far. Being a weekly book, it moves very nicely. Yet another new artist on this book but other than that, it’s Bat-tastic.
