In the next installment of Batman Eternal, we spend some time in the Narrows. Since we are in the Narrows we also get to see Harper Row and another special guest.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the book (or pressed the icon on my phone) was that the artist changed yet again. This time it was in my favor. While Dustin was good, he was not my favorite artist/style of Batman. Andy Clarke’s pencils/inks is back to a style of comic art that I enjoy. Also, right there on the first page, we have Red Robin. He is investigating what was going on with all the kids that Pyg messed with. Batman gets wind that he is there and makes an appearance to touch base with Drake. Back at the Gotham Gazette office, Vicky Vale gets a lead on something pertaining to what is going on in Gotham and goes out to investigate. Her investigation brings her into the heart of the Narrows where Miss Row comes to the rescue. She takes Vicky and her intern back to her apartment where Red Robin shows up “unexpectedly”. There is something of a small problem happening with the children. You could say it is “nano”. I have a feeling that our Bat Family with get to the bottom of it. In true Batman style, we end the book with a final panel that had me going, “Awwww yeah!”
I mentioned that I like the art with the book already so I will leave that there. The story. Ahhh the story. I am LOVING the additions of the different Batman Universe characters to the story. I was intrigued by Harper Row when I first was introduced to her in Batman #7, I thought she could be a nice female addition into Batman story. When she started to get all Hero/Vigilante on us, she grew more interesting. This is another book where Batman was not in the forefront of the story. It is showing how deep the story is getting and how much Gotham is going to be affected by the actions that will come before us. I am now patiently waiting for issue #6 to come out.
