BATMAN ETERNAL #19 Review

Posted on the 13 August 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

Batman Eternal 19. We go all over the place in this issue.  Brazil, Blackgate, sewers, Japan…all over.  Batgirl is hypnotized and thinks Red Hood and Batwoman are Joker and Gordon Jr.  She kicks some butt but (but?) manages to get snapped out of it by the diligence of Jason.  Batwoman goes off to face Falsario.  Over at Blackgate the prisoners are overrunning the penitentiary.  The warden lets Gordon out and he goes off to try and save some of the guards that were taken hostage.  I love what he says about the “Windy City Special” because being from Chicago (‘burbs), it is completely true. In Japan, Harper is working her magic with the tech and surprises Red Robin with her skills.  Down in the sewers is where a lot of time was spent as well.  Batman, Bard and Croc were traveling along in search of what kidnapped the little girl Jade.  They make their way deep below Arkham Asylum (where Batwing and Corrigan were) to see the workings of the Ten Eyed Man.  With Croc and Bats teaming up, this could get intense.

Things just keep on heating up in this series.  The direction that Harper is moving is as I anticipated. I see her getting the training to be apart of the Bat family.  I wonder if Batman is going to have to put Croc in his place if he gets a bit out of hand. Also, it seems pretty clear now the way that Falsario was talking to Batwoman that Gordon is innocent just the way we all knew it would be.  Now that he is not locked in a cell anymore, is he going to make it out of Blackgate alive? One can only hope.
