BATMAN ETERNAL #13 Review

Sneaky sneaky this Lieutenant Bard is.  His plan is working so far to his advantage and Batman thinks he is clever as well.  In Batman Eternal #13, the story starts off with the continuation of the conversation between James Gordon and his son at Blackgate Prison.  There is some nice dialog from Gordon’s son explaining how he really feels about his Dad.  There is a plan set in place to allow Jim to escape Blackgate but we will have to wait and see is he is will to take the chance or let the system do its job and set him free.  Moving of to the GCPD, Lt. Bard and his team has the go ahead to “capture Batman”.  I thought is was brilliant how the task force followed through with the plan.  I have to say I know something was up with how the plan was going to roll out but this was great.  Batman lurking in the shadows and acknowledging the work of Bard made it that much better.  Vicky Vale joined the GCPD on this mission to get the inside scoop on this and to make Bard’s plan that much more effective.

Two more sub stories make their appearance in this book.  We get a bit more of the Stephanie Brown escapade with an explosive outcome.  Also, Harper and Red Robin make a showing as Harper breaks into Red Robin’s headquarters.  That can’t be good for her.  This was a very good book and is getting back to how I envisioned this story progressing.  We touched on 4 of the stories in this single book but didn’t neglect on any one over another.  The past two issues had art from Mikel Janin.  I wasn’t familiar with his work but I am enjoying his visuals as I see a great fit to the story.  While Batman hasn’t been too prominent in the past few issues, the story is making up for a lack of the Bats.  A must read in my opinion.
