BATMAN 66 MEETS THE GREEN HORNET #1 Review

Posted on the 22 May 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

The crossover continuation event we have been waiting for since the 60′s is finally here! Batman 66 Meets The Green Hornet #1 from Ralph Garman and Kevin Smith is their adaptation of what it would have been like to continue the event back from the original television series.

First off I have 2 words for you. Alex Ross. The cover is stunning. His work is amazing and I have always dug his pieces. Very unique and always spottable as an Alex Ross piece of art. The story is a multiple part series just like it has been thus far in the Batman 66 series. Here we get Dick about to go on a date with the Mayor’s daughter when the Batphone rings. Assistance is needed but Bruce is going as himself and Dick is off to his date. Bruce is on a train with the owner of some extremely rare fossils when Britt Reid (Green Hornet) and Kato show up. After the train comes to an unexpected halt, both teams know something is up and Bruce makes the call to Dick. Next thing that happens is Bruce enters the wrong train car and runs into the mystery villain and his crew.

This is a pretty exciting story so far. The change in writers is a nice change although I do love Jeff Parker’s work. Kevin and Ralph make a great teTempletonh being the biggest 66 Batman on the planet is really enjoying himself as well as the Fatman adding his touches to the story as well.  The humor and subtitles between the Bruce and Britt conversation we great. I have been waiting for this series since the announcement a few months ago and I will say it is all it is cracked up to be. If you are a fan of any part of this team or Batman, this is a great read and I know it will only get better.
