HEH HEH HA HA HA HA HAR HAR HA HE HEH HO HO HE!!! Joker is at it again with his mischief but this time he has an accomplice in Batman 66 #31.
Just as a quick disclaimer, I do read the “Digital First” versions of the Batman 66 stories. That is why the issue numbers may seem different from the print.
Jeff Parker and team continue to amaze me with the spectacle that is Batman 66. I love how this chapter incorporates many different characters from the Rogues Gallery on top of incorporating characters that weren’t around in the 1960′s into this line. The premise of this book is that Bruce and Dick go to Arkham Asylum with Gordon and crew to see some therapy that Dr. Quinn (see!) is working on with her patients. Dr. Quinn is trying to provide a creative outlet for them so they don’t wreak havoc on the world. We get to see some of Gotham’s finest criminals express themselves creatively through the story. The main act is none other than Joker himself. He puts on quite a show using only his comedic abilities. He gets the whole crowd laughing that it seems a bit uncontrollable. His plan is working but only with the help of someone else!
Classic! I can tell that this mini story arc is going to be fantastic. It continually grabs my interest as well as keeps my love for the old Batman TV series alive. Jonathan Case is the artist on this book. His work is great and the colors are vibrant. I don’t think reading this in print would be as good as it is digitally due to the color changing panel effects provided from the Guided View on Comixology. This was a super fun read. I only wish it would go back to a weekly book instead of bi-weekly. If you have not gotten on the Bat-train yet with Batman 66, start now and have a laugh!
