There will be a number of basketball trophies handed out this weekend during the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend held in Orlando. Below is a list of events that will take place between Friday, February 24th to Sunday, February 26th.
Friday, February 24
- Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game – 7 PM EST
- BBVA Rising Stars Challenge – 9 PM EST
Saturday, February 25
Events begin at 8 PM EST in this order;
- Haier Shooting Stars Competition
- Taco Bell Skills Challenge
- The Foot Locker Three-Point Contest
- Sprite Slam Dunk Contest
Sunday, February 26
- NBA All-Star Game – 7 PM EST
The contestants in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest consist of; James Jones (defending three-point champion), Ryan Anderson, Mario Chalmers, Anthony Marrow, Kevin Love, and Kevin Durant. Durant is replacing Joe Johnson in the three-point shootout because Johnson is currently nursing a right knee injury. Ryan Anderson has the highest three-point percentage out of all the contestants, but if Kevin Durant can catch fire and get on a roll, look out!
This years Slam Dunk Contest doesn’t have the big name NBA players like you would expect. All four contestants are rather young but very athletic. The contestants consist of; Paul George, Derrick Williams, Chase Budinger, and Jeremy Evans. That’s right folks, no Blake Griffin this year. Jeremy Evans is not a well known player in the NBA, but he may surprise some people this weekend during All-Star Weekend. He has the athleticism to take home the trophy.
This NBA All-Star Weekend should be a good one, even without the star-studded Slam Dunk Contest. There are some youngsters that are looking to make a name for themselves. Who do you like to take home the basketball trophies in the Three-Point Contest and the Slam Dunk Contest?
