And here we go with another release of Barrell; will Barrell Bourbon Batch 022 live up to the legacy batch 21 and batch 19 have started here on TWJ or will it be the one to break away and bring the whole thing tumbling down?
A bit dramatic of an opening, but you know… why not. A blend of Kentucky and Indiana whiskeys… at the very least this should be a fun bourbon review.
Barrell Bourbon Batch 022 Review: Details and Tasting Notes
“Barrell Bourbon Batch 022 is a marriage of two separate and iconic styles of Bourbon: Classily dry and woody Kentucky Bourbon, and floral, herbaceous, and sweet Indiana Bourbon. The final blend was constructed from four separate lots, each with its own nuanced family of flavors. Much like Batches 007, 011, and 013, Batch 022 incorporates the freshness of some carefully chosen, younger barrels to bring a more extensive set of flavors and aromas to the table.”

Barrell Bourbon Batch 022 Review: Overall and Score
Nice… quite nice. The Aroma sits easy and layered with the darkly sweet and rustic notes that fill this whiskey – it also has a nice ‘freshness” about it; Palate hangs heavier with a more grain forward style; Finish is a nice long fade that makes the pause between sips as pleasant as the si itself.
This is a good solid bourbon. It’s not some new unique profile, not some crazy A-typical thing; it’s just good bourbon. And with all of the crazy finishes and double barrels and rapid aging and small barrels and blah blah blah going on sometimes you just need a good solid bourbon. And this, this is exactly that.
SCORE: 4/5

Has a softness to it despite being so high proofed and carries a sweetness that pairs so incredibly well with the oak it becomes a pleasure just to sniff and taste the duality and how well it matches up.
