Bangaldesh opener Anamul Haque celebrates his maiden ODI century
Merciless Bangladesh crushed West Indies 160 runs in the second one-day international at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Khulna to record their biggest ever ODI win in terms of runs.
Riding on opener Anamul Haque’s majestic maiden century, Bangladesh managed a gigantic total of 292-6 and bundled out tourists for 132 in 31.1 overs.
Off-spinner Sohag Gazi and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak destroyed the West Indian batting line by claiming three wickets apiece.
Bangladesh’s previous highest victory margin was 146 runs against Scotland in 2006.
With the record-victory Bangladesh, who had won the opening ODI at Khulna by seven wickets, claimed 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
The West Indies batsmen looked clueless in purist of a competitive total and lost wickets at regular intervals.
Barring Darren Bravo (28) and Kieron Pollard (25), none of the tourists’ batsman was able to pass 20-mark. All big guns including Chris Gayle (15), Marlon Samuels (16) and Lendl Simmons all failed to make impact.
Earlier, Anamul Haque and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (79) rescued from 2-21 and ragged the West Indian bowling line up with a record 174-run third wicket stand.
Anamul Haque’s hit 13 boundaries and two sixes in his remarkable vigil while Rahim’s 79 came from 87 balls, studded with eight boundaries and a six.
