Being in a band is a dream for a lot of people; however, just being in a band isn’t good enough. Seriously, playing in your garage was fine in the 70’s, but now it’s all about getting your name out there.  Building a loyal fan base is a huge deal for any band. Let’s face it a band is nothing without fans! In order to do that you need gigs.

  • First of all, you have to get back to the basics. Even if you book a show at a local bar or restaurant that offers live music, who is going to come just to see a band full of people playing music that no one has ever heard? Would you? Didn’t think so. The first thing you can do is make a demo, which is the easiest thing ever. Record a song. Upload it to YouTube, Facebook, Vine or any other social network you can think of. Making a website that showcases your music would also be an awesome idea. This will get you that loyal fan base that is necessary for any band to succeed.
  • Contact your venue of choice. There are two choices you can go with when doing this, you can either do it yourself or you can get a manager. If you choose to get a manager it is very important that it is someone that you trust with your life, or at least your career.
  • If you’re using a ticket service, use a decent one. Ticodo.com are a tickets comparison website and their tickets are all from trusted ticket suppliers and offer a minimum 100% money back guarantee. They have tickets to some of the biggest music tours from the likes Rhianna to Fleetwood Mac.
  • Show up and play your heart out! Play a solid show. Also make sure not to be a diva. If the word gets out that you are disrespectful to the staff or the property, no one will want to work with you!

If you don’t get a gig at your choice venue the first time, don’t let it discourage you. Try playing smaller places first, and work your way up! Now make it happen!
